Speeches
Archbishop Gomez has been recognized as a vital voice
in the Church today. Time Magazine named him one of the
twenty-five most influential Hispanics in the United States.
He is in demand as a speaker internationally. Here is a
collection of many of the speeches he has made throughout the years.
“I want to do this evening is to encourage you, my sisters! To love with the heart of Jesus! To bring others to the heart of Jesus! To surround the people you know with the love of Christ and to extend the good news of his love so that it embraces and surrounds everyone you come in contact with. “

Committee on Cultural Diversity
On January 1, 2008 a reorganization of the USCCB went into effect.
One of the results of this was the creation of one of the largest
committees of the Bishops' Conference, the Committee on Cultural
Diversity in the Church. I was honored to be elected first chairman of
this committee at the bishops' November 2007 annual meeting in Baltimore.
It is a source of great pride to see the universal Church well
represented in our Committee and to be entrusted by the USCCB
with the task of furthering the participation of all God's
People in the life of the Church.

Official Statements
When the issues and the circumstances require it, Archbishop Gomez has
issued statements on a variety of events and subjects. Click below to
read these statements.
We are fast approaching an historic and critical moment which will in many ways define who are as a nation, what we value, and how we live. The national debate on healthcare has brought to light some key moral issues which are of grave concern to Catholics, other and people of good will in the United States. As the debate over a health care reform bill continues, the joint statement made by Archbishop Gomez and Bishop Cantu remains relevant and to the point as the they joined the Bishops of the United States advocating a bill that would provide the protection of human life, coverage for the immigrants and the poor, and protection of the long standing moral freedoms of conscience our constitution has provided throughout our history.
